Dr. Cheryl L. Atkinson:
As an educator, I highly
recommend the book,
Fundamentals of Investments
in U.S. Financial Markets,
by Jack D. Howell, Jr., as
a comprehensive educational resource for understanding investments. He has
written, in an easy and understandable way, about many topics associated
with investments and the U.S. stock market.
Whereas other authors have devoted their books to a single subject, Howell's
goal appears to have been to present a multifaceted, multi-topic approach.
Quite refreshing. This approach enables students and beginning investors
to benefit by providing a holistic approach to investment education. In
addition, the more experienced investor will benefit by using this text as
an investment "reference" book allowing the reader to choose specific areas
in which they would like to augment their investment knowledge.
Again as an educator, I believe this book can be utilized as a textbook for
high school, college, and graduate students; as an invaluable education tool
for the general public; and as a reference book for the more experienced,
even professional investor.
I therefore, strongly recommend Howell's book as the book of "choice" for
gaining knowledge of the U.S. financial markets. The benefits will
accrue... for a lifetime.
